Nau mai, welcome to your second professional experience paper!

This paper provides opportunities for students to develop critical knowledge and understanding of the teacher’s professional role and to apply pedagogical practices in Key Teaching Tasks.

In this paper, students must demonstrate satisfactory and consistent professional development in relation to:

•the Professional Standards (evidenced through the Key Teaching Tasks and Culminating Integrative Assessment)

•the specified Learning Outcomes for this TEPRO paper

Students will explore current issues, reflect on their own experiences, and review and discuss practical scenarios to equip them for their Professional Experience 2.

The paper will be taught through fortnightly tutorials beginning with an introductory session during the on-campus block on the Hamilton campus (17-19 July) .

Additionally, students will undertake professional experience within ECE setting 2 on the following dates:

  • A weekly Professional Experience Early Childhood Education (PEECE) day every Wednesday in ECE Setting 2: 26 July - 20 September (x9 PEECE days)
  • A six (6) week full time block professional experience: 9 October - 17 November.
  • There will also be a one off session for the final CIA presentation on 28 November (Details to be confirmed)

Moodle will be used for announcements, information sharing and communication regarding professional experience in addition to face-to-face tutorials.

NET students are invited to join HAM face-to-face fortnightly tutorials by ZOOM

In order to meet the requirements of TEPRO401, students will need to submit ALL required documentation by November 26.

This includes a collection of evidence garnered from the following sources:

  • The e-portfolio will build on the e-Portfolio established in TEPRO400. This includes evidence of progress made towards the Key Teaching Tasks and the Culminating Integrative Assessment (CIA) which is linked to the Standards. The e-Portfolio will demonstrate this through student reflections, goal setting and artefacts of student practice. This could include photos, videos, mentor teacher reports etc.
  • Professional Experience documentation that demonstrates a satisfactory level of teaching practice based on Our Code, Our Standards and the Key Teaching Tasks (KTTs,) as evidenced in the student's e-Portfolio and the Evaluative Lecturer and Mentor Teacher reports.
  • The CIA assessment
